South Korea trip

Jeonju: A Time Travel in Hanbok 🌸

Jeonju is already well-known, but did you know it has so many hidden charms beyond its Hanok Village? I absolutely love wearing a Hanbok and wandering through the alleys, taking photos. Jeonju itself provides such a beautiful backdrop. Especially around Gyeonggijeon Shrine and Jeondong Catholic Church, it's just so pretty, day or night, that I lose track of time!

And of course, it's a food paradise – that goes without saying! 🤤 From Bibimbap and Kongnamul Gukbap (bean sprout soup) to Choco Pies and street food, you'd need days to try it all. I particularly found the Jeonju Makgeolli, especially when paired with Moju, to be incredibly delicious. It went down so smoothly, and surprisingly, no hangover the next day! 😉

💡 Good to know!
Jeonju Hanok Village can get crowded on weekends, so if you prefer a more relaxed trip, I recommend visiting on a weekday. Going early in the morning allows you to truly soak in the tranquil atmosphere of the hanoks.

Gyeongju: A City Embracing a Thousand Years of History, New Discoveries 🏞️

Thinking of Gyeongju as just a school trip destination is a big mistake! I was truly surprised when I revisited. 😲 While historical sites like Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto are wonderful, there are now many places filled with youthful vibes, like Hwanglidan-gil, offering a much wider range of things to enjoy. I got completely engrossed in exploring the cute cafes and independent bookstores on Hwanglidan-gil.

The night view of Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond is absolutely stunning. 🌙 When the lights come on, the reflection on the water is so beautiful it takes my breath away. It has a different charm compared to daytime, which is why I always make sure to visit again at night. In spring, the cherry blossoms are incredible, and in autumn, the fall foliage is just as spectacular! It's a place you can visit any season and never get tired of.

⚠️ Be careful!
Gyeongju's historical sites are spread out, so it's a good idea to consider renting a car or a bicycle. Relying solely on public transportation might make it difficult to see everything.

Busan: The Perfect Harmony of Sea and City 🌊

Busan is quite famous, so it might not be entirely "underrated," but it's a city where I discover new charms every time I visit, so I really want to recommend it! 🤩 Beyond the well-known beaches like Haeundae and Gwangalli, there are many hidden beautiful beaches and alleys. I particularly love the charming alleyways and ocean views of Huinnyeoul Culture Village.

Fresh seafood is a given, and you can't miss out on local delicacies like Dwaeji Gukbap (pork soup with rice) and Ssiat Hotteok (sweet pancake with seeds)! I especially enjoy picking out fresh seafood directly at Jagalchi Market. And the night view is absolutely incredible! The Gwangandaegyo Bridge at night always leaves me mesmerized. 🌉

Busan Travel Tips 📝

  • Don't just stick to the beaches; explore alleyways in places like Gamcheon Culture Village or Huinnyeoul Culture Village.
  • Savor fresh seafood at Jagalchi Market, and enjoy Browse the nearby Gukje Market.
  • Take the Haeundae Beach Train or Sky Capsule for a unique experience with ocean views.

Tongyeong: The Naples of the East, A Harmony of Art and Sea 🛥️

Tongyeong is truly a hidden gem! ✨ The first time I visited, I completely fell in love with the colorful murals of Dongpirang Mural Village and the expansive ocean view. There are so many perfect spots for photos, making it ideal for getting those Instagram-worthy shots. 😊

Taking the cable car up Mireuksan Mountain gives you a panoramic view of Tongyeong city and the Hallyeohaesang National Park, and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking! It's like I'm melting into nature itself. 🏞️ And of course, you absolutely must try Honey Bread and Chungmu Kimbap in Tongyeong! I especially love the Honey Bread so much that I often buy several boxes to take home. 😋

💡 Pro Tip!
Tongyeong also offers island tours, so if you have time, consider visiting islands like Jangsado or Somaemuldo. Islands with different charms will be waiting for you!
